Diplomate of Oriental Medicine
Angie Mordecai is a doctor of Chinese medicine, an herbalist and acupuncturist. She is especially skilled at creating highly refined and precise herbal prescriptions, and specializes in the treatment of anxiety, depression, digestive disorders, and menstrual and reproductive difficulties.
Her interest in health and in the wider human experience began after discovering yoga and meditation at age 15. Since then, she has pursued training in yoga therapy, Ayurvedic bodywork and herbalism, Western herbalism, organic farming, prenatal movement and birth support, and human development. Angie’s first career as an environmental scientist and climate researcher has informed her perspective on the role of medicine in our collective culture and ecology.
Her own experiences receiving herbal medicine and acupuncture over a decade ago inspired her to pursue advanced studies in Chinese medicine. She completed a two-year training in constitutional five-element acupuncture and Shen-Hammer pulse diagnosis with Lonny Jarrett in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, and a four-year Master of Acupuncture and Diploma in Chinese Herbal Medicine at the Academy for Five Element Acupuncture in Gainesville, Florida.
Most recently, she completed Ann Cecil-Sterman’s Classical Chinese Medicine Mentorship Program, a six-month intensive course on the complement channels of acupuncture— the sinew, luo, divergent, and extraordinary channels.
Ongoing studentship is critical in any field if excellence and rigor are priorities. Angie continues her studies of classical herbal medicine, acupuncture channel theory, and pulse diagnosis at basically every free moment.
She is the Hermoine Granger of every group, and over the course of her Chinese medicine training, read almost every book in the student library.
Above all, what sets Angie apart as a practitioner is her core belief in the goodness and infinite potential of humanity. This is the foundation of her clinical commitment to all who cross her path in search of meaningful change.
